Folts & Speulda

The Wholesale Business, distillery and liqueur company Folts & Speulda was founded on the 10th of January 1879 by the distiller Heinrich Folts and the merchant F.W. Speulda in the town of Leer/Germany.

The town of Leer is also called the "Gateway to East Frisia", which originally was a merchant township situated on the estuary of the Leda and Ems rivers. Its geographical location and proximity to the North Sea played a grea role in shaping the characteristics of the town and its inhabitants.

Its best known buildings are " The Waage " ( scales ) and the Town Hall, The "Waage" was built on the banks of the trading port in 1714 and Leer's Town Hall was constructed in 1894.
